Hello, and welcome to our first newsletter for 2011.

The dust from the festive parties has well and truly settled and our care free attitude to the mince pies has left us with only one pair of trousers that fit! So, hide the tape measure and sit back as we bring you some news to whip you into shape!

CCTV without Limits

With all the techy developments in CCTV and data network connectivity, it’s made viewing systems from anywhere in the world really easy and super fast. This kind of service for any system offers huge benefits. Whether you just want it as a way of checking up on an activated alarm or using it to manage a site, it’s something that allows you to save money, add another level of pro-active security and provide piece of mind.

Up to press, Oracle Vision have teamed up with CCTV control rooms at Kirklees College and Bury Council to offer these services and we are now pleased as punch to add Wakefield Council to the team too. Together we are offering a ‘never been seen before’ end-to-end security service for sites in the Wakefield area. For those of you, who would like to chat about how we can help you, just give us a call and we’ll tell you all about it. Pick Emma’s brains on 0870 758 76 76.

Pensioner Robbed in His Own Home

This was a headline for a very sad story in the Wakefield Express newspaper just before Christmas. An 84 year old man was the victim of a cocaine fueled robbery that started out as a street robbery and ended up in the victims own home.

Even though the crime was carried out in a popular part of Wakefield, a tower block residential area owned by Wakefield District Housing (WDH), it happened in the early hours of the morning without anyone to witness the attack. This is where WDH’s security planning and the CCTV system we provided them and now maintain sprang into action. The police had tracked the stolen goods but needed an image to identify the criminals – and they got it!

Through the CCTV system WDH and the Police was able to provide strong evidence against them. The criminals admitted the robbery and were jointly sentenced for nearly eight years. A WDH area manager said: “WDH is pleased that our use of CCTV in these premises have helped the police bring those responsible to justice”.

Events for 2011

Last year we mentioned carrying out a series of open days/events to cover security based topics that will offer some support to your every day life. Well, we’ve finally set the first date in March.

As we mentioned, there are loads of subjects we could cover such as new products, legislation, how to get the most out of your system etc... But we want to make sure they are relevant and worthwhile. We will be carrying out the open days with many of our partners that will include many other related security topics too

The open days will be at Oracle Vision HQ in West Yorkshire where there will be tea and biscuits but we are open to suggestion. Emma will be sending out reminders in the next week or so for your feed back would be much appreciated.

Don’t forget folks that we are on face book. Click on the link below and join in the gossip.

Techy Tip –

Access Control

Did you know that Access Control can be used for more than just the usual opening of doors? What many users don’t realise is that these systems often allow the administrator to use it for things like Time and Attendance too. This feature can help companies monitor their employees time on site, create fire registers, budget for labour used on a project, help work out wages by importing into Sage… the list goes on. If you would like to look into what the potential is on your system, or if you are thinking of having a system like this in your building, just give us a call. We are always available for a natter – 0870 758 7676

We’d Like to give you stuff

Ok, you’ve set your New Years resolution to cut down on the treats but in our eyes a brew and a few best dipping biscuits are a way of life! So, if you’re the same as us, then the first 30 replies to answer the question below correctly will be sent the necessary daily supply of biscuits for dunking in their tea!

So, listen up:

What is the long scarf like tail worn from the hood by university graduates, doctors and learned people called?

Is it;
    a. Bafflegab
    b. Tittynope
    c. Attercop
    d. Liripoop

This one is a bit harder than usual!
